ISES Corporation has been working with Vanderbilt University and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center since 1987. The initial engagement involved performing facility condition assessments (FCAs) for 128 buildings with more than 7.8 million GSF. Our first generation asset management system database was installed at Vanderbilt upon completion of the inspections and development of the facility reports. Following the initial engagement, ISES was retained to reinspect 10 percent of the buildings and update the database accordingly on an annual basis.

The successful completion of the FCA, combined with the development of a bond of trust between ISES and the University staff, was the precursor to additional projects. These projects included equipment inventory and barcoding assistance, infrastructure analysis and a complete elevator condition inspection effort.

In 1996 and again in 2004, ISES was chosen to perform a complete update of the original FCA inspection effort. All buildings were completely reinspected, and the database was reset to a new baseline. The entire database was updated to ISES’ latest generation FCA database system. ISES continued reinspecting elevator systems until 2011, when we discontinued this service.

Later, ISES helped Vanderbilt with the development of an aggregation/forward purchasing strategy for coal and natural gas. Integral with this project is the development of financing strategies.

In addition to providing these services, ISES personnel have assisted senior management at Vanderbilt in the development and delivery of numerous presentations involving the results of the studies conducted on campus.
