ISES Corporation was awarded a project to provide actionable information as a first step in improving accessibility for the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group’s (MOHG) customers with disabilities. ISES architectural inspectors physically examined six of the seven MOHG US properties. The areas inspected include hotel entrances, common areas, check-in, concierge and bell desk counters, public restrooms, accessible guest rooms, spas, pools, restaurants and lounges, banquet and meeting rooms, and paths of travel between all identified areas.
Physical barriers to access, as defined under ADAAG, were identified and corrective measures recommended. The recommended solutions were then prioritized based upon current ADA guidelines. These recommendations were tempered through application of the “readily achievable” concept.
