Ed Gee, founder of ISES Corporation

Background

Ed Gee founded ISES in 1987, but we trace our roots back to 1980. At that time, Ed was instrumental in the first nationwide facilities condition assessment. For that project, a survey of historical properties at more than 50 National Parks across the US, he utilized the first computerized facilities condition database, a DOS-based system called BIPS.

Ed recognized the need for providers of condition assessment services on a grand scale, leading to the founding of ISES Corporation. ISES has led the industry in developing this niche service into a vital comprehensive tool for larger landlords. Over the years we’ve developed other services that help facility managers optimize their portfolios.

Great customer service as you worked with our schedule to conduct the FCA. The training we received on the database gave us a solid foundation. The FCA data you provided is invaluable to planning for the future of our facilities.

Barnaby Peake, Director of the Bronco Student Center (Cal Poly Pomona)

We now have the ability to navigate our budgetary needs when it comes to major repairs/capital improvements for the next 10 years. The AMS databases is a powerful reporting tool!

J. Dana Twedell, Former Director of Facilities Services (Cal State LA)

While most high-performing facilities teams understand the condition of their buildings and systems, inhouse views can be myopic. FCAs based on detailed inspections and interviews by an outside vendor provide the needed perspective to fully evaluate the existing condition of assets. The FCAs I had conducted by ISES have had a powerful and immediate impact on campus budget and planning efforts because of the credibility of the FCA information.

Kevin Doyle, Director, Facilities Management and Services-Retired (CSU, Chico)

Thanks to you and your firm’s great work, the University’s Board of Trustees recently approved a long-term infrastructure funding plan, which includes enough funding to reinvest in our facilities to maintain them at the high standard that you found most of them to be in when they were audited by your firm. Your firm’s work and credibility were instrumental in getting this done.

Doug Marsh, Associate Vice President & University Architect (University of Notre Dame)

FSU has used ISES since 2007 for our FCAs. I believe they have quite a bit of experience with facilities operations in higher education.

ISES has also tagged equipment for us. We are in the process of having ISES set up an entire new building in our CMMS for maintenance. Very good work and I recommend them.

Tom Shewan, Director of Maintenance-Retired (Florida State University)

The information gathered from the assessment will help build a very stable foundation for facilities renewal planning….It’s a focused and cost-effective approach to the stewardship of these taxpayer-owned physical assets.

Antonio Calcado, Vice President of University Facilities & Capital Planning (Rutgers University)

All staff with whom I worked were very professional and responsive. Doing the District ADA tour with Rob and Norm was actually fun! The AMS database is proving useful in prioritizing our ADA projects. We are extremely likely to use ISES again.

Kathy Fukuyama, Assistant Director of Facility Operations (Portland Community College)

Thanks a lot!  I am really happy with your work and the ISES products.  I’m glad we hired ISES and I feel like it was really worth the investment.

Jennifer Hayward, Director of Facilities Management and Planning (Lane Community College)
